What You'll Do

As a Trainee Deputy Manager, the apprentice will play a key role in supporting the leadership and day‑to‑day running of the nursery while completing a Level 5 Early Years Lead Apprenticeship.

The Apprentice will:

• Support the Deputy Manager and Manager in the day‑to‑day operation of the setting
• Lead rooms or practice areas to ensure high‑quality teaching, learning, and care
• Support and mentor staff, apprentices, and students
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times
• Help plan, implement, and review the early years curriculum in line with the EYFS
• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Contribute to staff supervision, team meetings, and continuous improvement
• Support with compliance, inspections, and quality assurance processes
• Complete all apprenticeship training, assessments, and coursework alongside their role

Training Outcome

• On successful completion of the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship, the apprentice will be well‑prepared to progress into a Deputy Manager role, with clear progression opportunities to Nursery Manager
• The apprenticeship supports the development of leadership, management, and operational skills required to take on increased responsibility within the setting
