Full Job Description

The post holder will work alongside a fellow Water Hygiene SME as part of an integrated national technical function. Both SMEs will operate at the same technical level, with equivalent professional standing, competence, authority and accountability across DWP's water safety arrangements.

Together, the Water Hygiene SMEs will provide national technical leadership, oversight, assurance and challenge across Business As Usual (BAU) water hygiene activity, Water Risk Assessments (WRAs), Written Schemes of Control, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), remedial activity, water sampling, projects, asset information, investigations, compliance evidence, contractor performance and governance.

DWP Estates is expanding its national water safety function and is seeking an additional Legionella & Water Hygiene Subject Matter Expert (SME) to work collaboratively across a complex UK-wide estate., The Department for Work and Pensions touches every citizen in the country at some time in their life. We are the UK Government's largest public service provider, providing services and support to over 22 million people and managing Whitehall's biggest annual budget, totaling over £176 billion. At the same time, we are delivering a once in a generation programme of welfare reform.

We provide a modern, fair and affordable welfare system that makes a sustainable and positive difference to people's lives every day. Our role is to support people into work by extending their opportunity, strengthening their personal responsibility and enabling them to reach their potential - and this could be your role too.

We're looking for talented individuals to help us fulfil this role during the biggest challenge of a generation.

At the forefront of the Covid response and economic recovery, DWP will remain 'front and centre' in the Government's efforts to support people through the recovery and back into work. When Covid-19 struck, DWP immediately took a critical role in ensuring people received vital financial support. DWP has already put in place a programme of work to support economic recovery, ranging from influencing decisions on emergence from lockdown (eg changing social distancing measures) to re-designing a future Jobcentre Plus service, and future contracted employment provision to ensure well-targeted, and deliverable support is available.

We employ over 91,000 people in varied roles, from delivering services on the front line in communities across the country, to developing policy to tackle some of the biggest strategic questions of the age.
