The Governing Body and Headteacher of Knebworth Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team from September 2026. We are looking for a highly effective classroom practitioner with proven leadership experience who is excited to help shape the continued development of our school. Working closely with the Headteacher, staff and Governing Body, you will play a key role in delivering our strategic vision and ensuring that every member of our school community is supported to reach their full potential. We are seeking someone who is:

  • An outstanding role model with a strong commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning for all pupils.
  • A dedicated and enthusiastic leader who can inspire, motivate and support colleagues to achieve excellence.
  • Reflective and ambitious, with a commitment to continuous improvement and the use of innovative, evidence-informed practice to enhance outcomes for all learners.

Our school is located in the heart of Knebworth Village, a close-knit community on the outskirts of Stevenage. Knebworth Primary School is a magical place to learn and grow, where children are truly at the centre of everything we do, and where inclusion and belonging are at the heart of our ethos.

We are proud to be a No Outsiders school, where all members of our community are celebrated, valued, and represented.
  • What makes our school unique is our strong team of passionate, caring staff and our wonderful children, who are inquisitive, kind and love learning. There is a genuine sense of respect and connection across our community, where everyone knows and supports one another. We are seeking a special individual who will share our ethos and fully embody our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Knebworth School is a good school - Ofsted 2023. The report notes that Knebworth School is a home from home where everyone is included. It highlights the fact that pupils know the school values of respect, responsibility and resilience and behave well across the school, respecting everyone's right to learn. We can offer you:
  • A school renowned for exceptional teaching and learning, with a curriculum that is both inspiring and ambitious.
  • The autonomy to pursue your professional passions and interests, supported by a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and work-life balance: "Staff appreciate the support leaders provide and know that leaders take into account their wellbeing and workload" - Ofsted 2023.
