Derby Cathedral School is a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school located in the heart of Derby, committed to providing an outstanding education for students at Key Stage 3, 4 & 5. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team and support the Headteacher in driving school improvement and ensuring high standards across all areas.

Position: Deputy Headteacher
Location: Derby Cathedral School, Derby, United Kingdom
Education Stage: Secondary (Key Stage 3, 4 & 5)
Minimum Experience: 3 years

School Visits available on Tuesday 14th April 2026

Role Overview:
The Deputy Headteacher will play a key role in leading curriculum development, staff management, and student achievement within Key Stage 3, 4 & 5. This position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for delivering excellent educational outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications:
- DfE recognised qualified teacher status/Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status

- Evidence of recent relevant continuing professional development.

- A relevant graduate certification

- A relevant postgraduate qualification if appropriate

- Minimum of three years' experience in a senior leadership role within secondary education
- Proven track record of successful curriculum planning and implementation at Key Stage 3, 4 & 5
- Strong understanding of current educational policies, assessment methods, and safeguarding requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire staff, students, and parents
- Effective organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Ability to lead teams collaboratively while maintaining high expectations for teaching quality
