Step into the spotlight and be part of the magic behind the curtain! Disney Theatrical Group is preparing to bring a highly anticipated musical to the stage, set to open in London in early 2027. We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the Wigs, Hair and Makeup department for a musical on a fixed-term basis., As Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair & Make-Up Assistant, you'll work with the Head of WHAM, Production Manager, General and Company Management. Your focus will be on supporting the smooth running of production through effective communication and maintaining excellent standard across the WHAM team to ensure seamless backstage operations. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Head of WHAM to manage, supervise and schedule members of the WHAM team.
  • Perform daily setup, oversee wigs pre-sets, and provide communication within the wigs team.
  • Responsible for repairing wigs, maintaining the show's design as dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Production Manager and Creative Team.
  • · Ensure all wigs are cleaned, maintained, and performance-ready for each show.
  • Conduct wigs fittings when required to do so.
  • Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Head of Wigs, Hair and Make Up in creating accurate production paperwork and ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.
  • Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the wigs department to provide holiday or absence cover for other members of the department as required.
  • Assist the Head of WHAM in liaising with the Company Manager, Creative Team, Production, and General Management and Tech teams to ensure smooth rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist the Head of Wigs, Hair and Make Up to create accurate production paperwork and ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.
  • · Take an active role in teaching new members of staff, deps and local dressers and wigs staff and work closely with the theatre staff to ensure the smooth running of the production.
  • Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
  • · Attend weekly Head of Department meetings in the absence of the Head of WHAM. · Work in full compliance with Disney's Health and Safety Policy and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices., This is the senior leadership role responsible for setting the strategy, budget, governance framework and commercial direction for the Olivier Awards and UK Theatre awards, events and partnerships activity., The Marketing Officer plays a vital role in growing audiences, driving ticket sales, and strengthening engagement with The Rep's work.

    · Background: Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production, particularly those involving international casts and the opening of new shows, is highly desirable. · Technical Skills: Knowledge of wig construction, maintenance, and materials is essential; barbering or hairdressing skills across all hair types are desirable · Textured Hair Expertise: Confident and experienced working with textured hair and wigs · Wig Maintenance: Skilled in repairing, styling and preserving wigs to a high theatrical standard. · Period Hair Styling: Experience in period-specific hair styling for stage productions. · Make-Up Knowledge: Understanding of theatrical makeup and application techniques, including fashion and stage-specific products. · Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cast, creatives, and crew · Health & Safety Awareness: Sound understanding of health and safety practices in a backstage environment.
