Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic & hard working DeputyHead of Procurement to work at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide leadership and management of a professional purchasing serviceto Derbyshire Healthcare contributing to the development and achievement of the Trustsprocurement strategy, transformational activities and work plan. The post holder will deputisefor the Head of Procurement on procurement and logistics issues and lead on key projects. To manage, develop and motivate procurement staff and contribute to the transformation of theservice and its influence across the organisations. The post holder is accountable to the Head of Procurement for implementing the sourcing andcontracting strategy across the Trust(s) ensuring that commercial and supply chain risk iseffectively managed. The post holder is required to co-ordinate a wide range of procurementactivity at all levels across the Trust and to manage a portfolio of projects and contractingactivity to ensure that the annual work plan is achieved. The post holder will ensure that the service is sensitive, responsive and flexible to the changingneeds of the Trust balanced against the need to remain cost effective, the main task being toprovide a strong and effective professional management focus leading to the achievement ofagreed targets, efficiencies and added value initiatives.Main duties of the job 1) Responsible for the Procurement function within the Trust in the absence of the Head ofProcurement. 2) Contributes to the strategic planning and operational provision of the Trust's procurement function. 3) Assists the Head of Procurement in the implementation of the Trust's Procurement Strategybased on best practice for public sector procurement and ensures that such strategy ismonitored against objectives and reviewed. 4) Provides managerial support and training to the Procurement team, including day to dayoperational cover as required. Strategic: 1) Supports the Head of Procurement in the delivery of cost and efficiency savings for the Trustby analysing current spend in specific categories to support the development of procurementstrategies. 2) Meets customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money when procuringproducts and services whilst also ensuring compliance with contracts and Trust/UK standardprocurement practice. 3) Supports contract compliance by pursuing procurement excellence through theimplementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.
