Deputy Head of Information Governance

An exciting opportunity is available for a Deputy Head of Information Governance to join the Information Governance (IG) team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust. As a senior member of the team, you will support the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in leading the delivery of IG strategies, policies, assurance and compliance across the Trust. You will provide expert advice across information governance, including data protection, information risk, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and records management. You will help colleagues understand and meet their legal and regulatory responsibilities while supporting safe, effective use of information. This is a varied leadership role offering the opportunity to:

• Provide expert advice on complex IG matters.
• Lead and develop a team of IG Advisors and an administrator.
• Support statutory information request processes.
• Review Data Protection Impact Assessments and advise services.
• Contribute to the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
• Prepare reports and papers for the Trust Board and governance groups.
Previous experience working in a healthcare environment and specialist knowledge of Information Governance within health and social care are essential for this role. As Deputy Head of Information Governance, you will provide senior leadership and expert advice across the Trust, working closely with the Head of Information Governance. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing expert advice on Information Governance, data protection legislation, information risk management, FOI, EIR and records management.
• Supporting staff to meet legal and regulatory requirements relating to confidentiality, information access and information security.
• Overseeing the effective management of statutory information requests, including FOI/EIR requests and Subject Access Requests.
• Providing line management and support to IG Advisors and the IG Administrator, helping to develop an effective and supportive team.
• Reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments and providing expert advice to services.
• Supporting compliance with the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
• Contributing to Information Governance reports and papers for the Trust Board, Information Governance Group and other governance forums.
• Working collaboratively with services, senior colleagues and stakeholders to identify risks, provide solutions and strengthen IG compliance.
• Communicating complex information clearly and appropriately, both verbally and in writing.
You will need to apply sound professional judgement, manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across different levels of the organisation.
