Full Job Description
This is a great opportunity for an experienced analytics leader who wants to use data and insight to makea practical difference to healthcare across South East London. You'll work closely with senior leaders and analytical teams across SEL with a focus on our Borough based teams, helping to shape the way we use data to understand our population, support decision-making and improve services. The role covers a broad mix of leadership, analytics and system working, including:
- Developing our approach to Population Health Management (PHM) and supporting better use of data across primary, secondary and community care.
- Continuing to modernise how we work, including Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAP), Python/R and use of the Snowflake data platforms.
- Leading and developing analytical teams, with a focus on producing genuine insights to enable our Boroughs to understand and commission for their local populations
- Working with colleagues across the ICB, trusts, local authorities and other partners to understand health inequalities and support improvements to care pathways. It's a role with plenty of scope to shape how analytics is delivered and used across the system, with work that ultimately supports decisions affecting more than 2 million people across South East London., The Deputy Head of Analytics & Insights (Place) is a senior analytical leader within the SEL Population and Borough Insights team, part of the wider Analytics & Insights function supporting South East and South West London ICBs. Reporting to the Associate Director of Analytics & Insights, the post-holder provides analytical leadership across South East London, overseeing the development and delivery of business intelligence, reporting and analytical solutions that support strategic commissioning, planning and service transformation. The role has a particular focus on providing analytical leadership and support to Place and neighbourhood teams, helping them make effective use of data and insight to understand their populations and inform local planning and decision-making. This includes developing Population Health Management (PHM) and Health Inequalities analytics, activity modelling and benchmarking. The postholder also leads and develops analytical staff with their team, supports technical innovation and deputises for the Associate Director of Insights when required. The role is based in Tooley Street, London Bridge, with hybrid working available. Occasional travel to our Place-based team offices, co-located with their Local Authority, may be required.
In 2025, the boards of NHS South East London ICB and NHS South West London ICB took the decision to enter into a clustering arrangement. This means that we share a chair, chief executive officer and an executive team, but we remain as separate, statutory organisations. This also means that the ICBs will share some teams, who will be working across both organisations. Some teams will also be working across both geographical areas and integrated care systems. This is a period of change for the NHS. The Government's 10 Year Health Plan presents an ambitious vision for a future NHS, with emphasis on the three 'shifts' - from hospital to community, from analogue to digital, and from cure to prevention - all underpinning the new neighbourhood health service.ICBs are also changing, with a clear focus on strategic commissioning and delivering neighbourhood working. This is an exciting time to work within our ICBs. We currently have the opportunity both to shape the future of our clustered organisations, and to be part of a radical transformation of care for the local people and communities across south London. And while our two ICBs are different in some ways, improving lives for the people we serve is at the core of what we are both here to do. Please note as you can only be employed by one ICB, this job description refers to 'the 'ICB', but your role may cover both ICB organisations, and / or geographical areas.
