b) Main duties and key responsibilities Strategic Responsible for the strategic leadership of patient safety across Shooting Star Childrens Hospices, ensuring implementation of quality improvement and patient safety priorities with a range of patient safety initiatives in line with statutory and regulatory requirements Develop and maintain effective systems and processes for responding to patient and family experiences, feedback, complaints and patient safety incidents Deputise for the Director of Care working in partnership across boundaries and systems Develop and deliver the wider strategic priorities across the organisation Quality, governance, and compliance Provide oversight and assurance on CQC regulated activities Keep abreast of legislation, case law, national and local development advising on the implications for SSCH including Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Promote digital approaches to care management that improve efficiency and effectiveness Ensure
that clinical policies are governed affectively across the care directorate Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete assurance reports consistent with legislation and policy Provide assurance that care is delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements, NICE guidelines and evidence-based practice through audit, service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives Education Review and develop an internal education and training curriculum for clinical staff across SSCHs to maintain safe clinical care and excellence in paediatric palliative care, bereavement and social care. Ensuring the education program offered meets national standards, requirements and emerging themes Maintain a positive learning culture ensuring high quality teaching and successful learning Ensure the education program and teaching methods are in line with the latest educational theory and best practice Develop an external education program, ensuring the education program offered meets national standards and
requirements Co-ordinate and advise on aspects of the external education program alongside heads of care and medical director Safeguarding Working alongside the Head of Safeguarding to implement the SSCH Safeguarding Strategy organisation wide c) Other Requirements These requirements will be applicable to some posts. The post holder must be able and willing to get to and work in both hospices. The post holder should be prepared to attend SSCH meetings in different parts of the country. Some meetings may be during evenings or weekends. The post holder will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. d) Mandatory Criteria Other duties The post holder will be working in a developing environment and they will therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of Shooting Star Childrens Hospices. Professional Codes of Conduct The post holder will be required to respect professional codes of conduct and
practice relevant to their role, as appropriate. Health and Safety The post holder will be responsible for health and safety in the area under their control and they must ensure that they are familiar with Shooting Star Childrens Hospices policy on health and safety at work.
