Full Job Description

Weston College is seeking an Inspiring, forward-thinking leader to join us as the Deputy Director - Apprenticeships. This pivotal role is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional with a strong understanding of apprenticeships, government policy, and quality frameworks - and the ambition to influence strategy at a college recognised nationally for excellence. This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week. This role is predominatly operational with a focus on Business-to-Business delivery and employer relationships, rather than student facing. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare., As Deputy Director - Apprenticeships, you will play a key role in shaping, delivering and continuously improving the College's apprenticeship strategy. Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum teams and external partners, you will:

  • Ensure the College's apprenticeship programmes are aligned with local, regional and national skills priorities.
  • Contribute to the College's strategic plan and OFSTED readiness for skills judgements.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including audits and performance monitoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment across the provision.

    We are looking for someone who will bring credible senior leadership experience within apprenticeships or work-based learning, alongside a deep understanding of quality, compliance and employer engagement. Essential skills and qualifications include:
  • A Teaching Qualification and teaching experience within further or higher education.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and Partnership building skills.
  • Examples of work demonstrating an innovative approach to apprenticeship delivery.
  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver against KPIs.
  • You will also be someone who is committed to your own continuous professional development and to role-modelling Weston College values.
