Full Job Description

As Deputy Course Leader you will provide exceptional leadership and support in our Content, Media and Film Production Course. You'll work closely with the Course Leader to ensure that our students receive the highest quality education and support, placing them at the heart of our curriculum and teaching practices. This role is integral to maintaining the quality and standards of our programs, ensuring excellent student recruitment, and promoting equality of access and participation. What You'll Do:

  • Support the Course Leader in delivering an outstanding student learning experience.
  • Plan and deliver optimal teaching schedules and assessments, offering academic and pastoral support.
  • Ensure equal access and opportunities for all students, closing the awarding gap for underrepresented groups.
  • Maintain curriculum quality and implement enhancement plans.
  • Engage in professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Lead, manage, and develop teaching staff through effective recruitment and ongoing development.
  • Contribute to the teaching of the course.
  • Address staff and student discipline issues, including complaints and academic integrity.
  • Collaborate with professional services for efficient timetabling and campus space use.
  • Promote student voice and well-being, serving as the escalation point for student success concerns.
  • Participate in processes to enhance the university's academic character.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement.
  • Manage data collection, monitoring, and reporting on key activities like attendance, pass/fail rates, and student feedback.

    Extensive experience within the Film industry.
  • A teaching qualification relevant to higher education or a willingness to achieve this within two years.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality education and outstanding student outcomes.
  • Experience in developing initiatives to enhance student engagement and action plans based on student feedback.
  • Expertise in curriculum and teaching development, understanding quality and standards in higher education and creative arts.
  • A track record of improving teaching quality and successful student outcomes.
  • Experience in implementing institutional policies and processes at the course level.
  • Ability to use and present data to improve course performance and student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    This is a part-time role, working 22.5 hours per week, offered on a fixed-term basis until May 2027.
