We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Working patterns such as: part time working, self-rostering, compressed hours, annualised hours, term time, reverse term time and flexitime working can be explored., An exciting opportunity has arisen in the patient flow team for permanent position within the patient flow team as a Deputy Clinical Site Matron, Band 7.
The shifts will be will cover a 7 day period. The deputy site matrons cover the day and night shifts where required.
The role of the deputy Clinical Site Matron would be to support the Clinical Site Matron in all aspect of the clinical site management of the Trust on a daily basis.
There will also be a need for direct line management of the bed managers and the patient flow team admin and travel team.
Vacancy may close early if sufficient applications received., To provide Clinical and managerial leadership in ensuring a safe environment with optimum patient care and exceptional care quality standards.
Ensure correct escalation processes followed including the Emergency Departments internal professional standards.
Support the Acute Response Team to ensure the management of the clinically at risk and the emergency situations should they be in a none-clinical area by ensuring appropriate attendance and operationally managing the admission or discharge of the patient.
Support the clinical site matrons to provide clinical advice and guidance to staff. To receive and coordinate verbal and electronic calls using established protocols and IT systems.
Perform Bed management of each of the divisions and provide bed positions and updates.
Assume the responsibility for site cover and ensure appropriate communication with the Senior manager or Director on call in the out of hours periods.
Escalation and management of the Mental Health patients across the trust.
Have a working knowledge of trust policy and ensure compliance
Manage staff sickness, performance and professionalism as per policy.
Manage the use of physical resources in consultation with the team, medical staff and managers to ensure a cost-effective service is provided.
Maintain and develop own competence and expertise. To act as a role model and comply with the NMC statutory regulations at all times., · To assist in identifying and implementing contingency plans, to resolve capacity issues and show sound judgement regarding patient placement at times of extreme pressure on bed capacity.

If the role you have applied for requires a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check we will administer this as part of your pre-employment checks. Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. You can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months from your salary or as a one-off payment on commencement in post. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
