Full Job Description
The post holder will work alongside the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Emergency Planning and Business Development to help provide professional and strategic leadership and advice to the Chief Pharmacist, and the Trust, on contingency planning necessary within Pharmacy to handle a range of emergency situations. They will be responsible for helping develop action plans, as well as preparing and conducting exercises to train staff as needed. The post holder will also support and deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Emergency Planning and Business Development and in the completion of transformation work ensuring that departmental functions continue to meet business needs., Develop and implement plans within Pharmacy, aligned with Trust Policy, to handle a range of emergency situations including major incidents, pandemics & extremes of weather. Collect and analyze numerous data sets to support service delivery development. Accountability for preparing and conducting exercises in the department to ensure staff can carry on functioning in the event of an emergency and are familiar with Trust & Departmental procedures. Responding to incidents, helping assess the situation and level of response required liaising directly with the Chief Pharmacist, other Deputy Chief Pharmacists as required and / or Trust Site Team To be a representative for Trust Emergency Planning Group and a member of the NHSE Emergency Planning Pharmacy Group To develop and coordinate the implementation of Pharmacy Business Continuity Plans alongside the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Emergency Planning and Business Development Helping ensure quality standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are agreed and in place for any new service/ business developments in the department. - Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
- Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)
- Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
- Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent qualification, Registered Independent Prescriber or willingness to complete
- Member of the RCPharm faculty, Able to identify and deliver best practice
- Able to demonstrate innovation
- Demonstrates an advanced level of reasoning & judgment
- Maintains a broad level of pharmacy practice
- Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to the clinical governance agenda, Specialist competencies in areas relevant to practice
- Be able to provide highly complex information on pharmacy and financial issues and impart knowledge to all levels of healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultants/professor/executive director level)
- Be able to provide highly complex information on medicines use and financial issues to multidisciplinary groups involving staff outside of Pharmacy (e.g. DTC, Non-Medical Prescribing Group, Divisional Management Teams, Clinical Effectiveness)
- Be able to provide highly complex information on pharmacy business planning and emergency planning to national organisations and at national/international conferences
- Be able to use presentational aids
