Dental Nurse

The Dental nurse role in the Oral, Maxillofacial and Orthodontic outpatient department, involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care to our patients, many who have complex medical and physical needs. The candidate is expected to work within all aspects of Oral Surgery and Orthodontics ensuring effective running of clinics, and assisting the clinicians in all aspects of patient care while maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff., · Assist the clinicians with a wide range of procedures from orthodontics to Oral surgery I;e removing wisdom teeth,Soft tissue biopsies, reviewing facial trauma and bonding brackets to teeth. · Has individual responsibility for the preparation and organisation of assigned clinic, · Identifying each patient's medical and dental needs before, during and post treatment. · Reassure and explain procedures to nervous, dental and needle phobic patients. Monitor the patient during treatment until they are fit to leave. · Acts as a scrub/circulating nurse, mixing dental materials, holding instruments in position for the clinician. · Using experience and knowledge to prepare surgical trollies using an aseptic technique · Manual dexterity needed for the assembly of micro drills, burs and orthodontic equipment. · Maintains a clean, hygienic, safe environment, adhering to the trusts infection prevention policy. · Responsible for labelling, sterilising and despatching of study model and impressions to the laboratory, · Keeping an efficient library of study models.
