Full Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and adaptable Band 4 Dental Nurse to join our Community Dental Network. This is a rewarding opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred dental care to children and adults, including people with complex medical conditions, disabilities, additional needs or dental anxiety who may be unable to access treatment through a general dental practice., The successful candidate will provide skilled chairside support across a wide range of community dental procedures, including special care dentistry, minor oral surgery and, following appropriate training, conscious sedation and general anaesthetic sessions. They will support patients before, during and after treatment, monitor their wellbeing and respond appropriately to changing needs or medical emergencies. The role includes preparing and maintaining safe clinical environments, ensuring instruments, materials and equipment are ready for use, and consistently following infection prevention, decontamination and quality assurance procedures. The postholder will maintain accurate patient records, assist with dental radiography, manage stock and contribute to clinical governance and audit activities. Working flexibly across the Community Dental Network, the Dental Nurse will communicate sensitively with children, adults, carers and patients who may be anxious, vulnerable or have additional communication or support needs. They will work effectively both independently and as part of the wider dental team, support colleagues and new staff, protect patient dignity and confidentiality, and maintain professional registration and continuing development in line with GDC standards.

You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary dental team, working across a varied range of clinical specialisms and helping every patient feel safe, respected and well cared for throughout their treatment journey. We are seeking a GDC-registered Dental Nurse who communicates sensitively, works well both independently and as part of a team, and is committed to excellent standards of care, infection prevention and professional development. This role offers the chance to broaden your experience within a specialist community service and make a meaningful difference to patients who may require additional support to receive dental care.
