Full Job Description
We are looking for a Democracy & Scrutiny Assistant to join our team. The role will be to work within the Democracy Team to provide administrative support in the delivery of functions across the democracy and scrutiny, with a primary focus on Education Appeals and Exclusion Reviews Major tasks include:
- To be responsible for the scheduling of Education Appeals & Exclusion Reviews within statutory deadlines, including organisation of dates, room booking, catering, and liaising with parents, Panel Members, Schools, Clerks & Democratic Support Officers in support of this.
- To be responsible for the administration of Education Appeals & Exclusion Reviews, including producing/updating the meeting's agenda, producing information packs ensuring information is available to support the meetings in line with deadlines, and updating SharePoint and spreadsheets with the most up to date information.
- To liaise with the Councils School Admissions Team, Schools, external Panel Members and officers to ensure Education Appeals and Exclusion Reviews are conductions within statutory deadlines.
- To undertake research and information gathering to assist the Democracy & Scrutiny team.
- To organise meetings (both formal and informal) with Members and officers, for a range of meetings across Democracy & Scrutiny.
