About The Role
Our Dementia Friends programme raises absolutely essential awareness of dementia, but we need you to make it happen! As a Dementia Friends Ambassador, you'll be changing attitudes about dementia by delivering Dementia Friends Sessions and interacting with the public on a regular basis. A representative in your local area, you'll also be raising awareness of the work of Alzheimer's Society, helping to ensure people affected by dementia are aware of the vital information and support we offer, and people or businesses know about the ways in which they can support us.
This could include handing out our leaflets, encouraging the public to access our services and attending local events and talks. There are lots of other exciting ways you can get involved too, such as being a friendly face at local fundraising events, sharing social media posts or putting up posters. We're particularly interested in hearing from people who speak Punjabi, Gujarati, Hindi, or other community languages, as these skills would help us support a wider range of people. Applications from everyone are welcome.
This is a flexible role, delivering sessions across Leicestershire which is community-based. If your application is successful, you will need to complete 6 hours of training before starting as a volunteer. This would be in the form of eLearning (1 hour) and specific Dementia Friends Ambassador training (5 hours online).

About Alzheimer's Society
Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. At Alzheimer's Society, we're the UK's leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future.
We give vital support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be. Together with our supporters, we're working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Our values make sure that our focus is clear for the challenges and opportunities ahead and remind us of what we all stand for.
