Full Job Description

We are looking for an apprentice, eager to start their career as a Laboratory Research Technician. As an apprentice you will provide support to the X-ray Analytical Facilities in the Bragg Centre for Materials Research in the Faculty of Engineering Physical Sciences apprenticeship scheme. The right apprentice will have a technical mindset and a passion for science and technology to support cutting-edge research in materials characterization. You'll gain hands-on experience in advanced X-ray scattering techniques to help researchers push the boundaries of knowledge in materials science, supporting experiments that reveal the structure and properties of natural and engineered materials.

As part of our apprenticeship technical training scheme, you will be placed on the Chemical Scientist Degree Apprenticeship level 6, offered by Manchester Metropolitan University , this will be delivered by online teaching one day per week Scientist (Chemical Scientist) Degree Apprenticeship | Manchester Metropolitan University. The apprenticeship for 4 years. You will be mentored by one of our senior researchers in our laboratories, where you will be given specific training in this area. On completion of your training, you will have an ideal skill set to go on to a successful career as a research technician, having learnt several disciplines associated with working in a lab environment. There may also be an opportunity to progress into a permanent role at the University on successful completion of your apprenticeship., 1.
