The role also involves contributing to the creation of web applications that will enable the deployment of clinical and imaging data analytics tools, supporting the wider ambition of a 'learning healthcare system'. Alongside this, the post holder will play an active role in the development, validation, and implementation of AI algorithms for ophthalmic image segmentation and analysis, ensuring these tools are robust and clinically meaningful. Additional responsibilities include supporting the development of database management platforms for the Reading Centre, which will underpin effective data handling and accessibility. Finally, the post holder will contribute to advancing AI-driven diagnostic and prognostic models for eye diseases, helping to improve patient care and outcomes through innovative use of data science., To independently provide all ophthalmic imaging interpretation, analysis, and modelling for both commercial and research-grade high resolution ophthalmic instruments, including highly specialised areas such as developing algorithms, analytics, adaptive optics scanning light ophthalmoscopes, optical coherence tomography devices, and digital based photography of both anterior and posterior segments to a high standard.
