We're on an exciting journey here at AO - with strong growth behind us and even bigger plans ahead, we're growing our Data team and looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join us. This role sits right at the heart of how we power our platform, helping to build and maintain the systems that keep our data flowing, accessible, and ready to drive brilliant customer experiences. From supporting our website to enabling advanced analytics and AI, you'll play a key part in shaping how data brings AO to life. You'll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team that's evolving into areas like Machine Learning and AI - so it's a great time to get involved and make a real impact.Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing You'll be hands-on with our data platforms day in, day out - working across SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS and Azure to build, improve and maintain our cloud-based infrastructure. Whether you're creating databases, coding with Terraform, SQL or Python, or helping deliver key business projects, your work will keep things running smoothly and efficiently behind the scenes. You'll collaborate closely with teams across Data Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, forming cross-functional partnerships to deliver meaningful change. It's a fast-paced environment where you'll be solving problems, improving resilience and performance, and contributing to projects that genuinely move the business forward.

  • You enjoy working with data platforms and take pride in building reliable, high-performing systems
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, including administration, performance tuning and high availability
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (or both!)
  • Comfortable coding with tools like SQL, Python or Terraform
  • Understanding of data warehousing and ETL tools such as Snowflake or Airflow
  • Experience working with CI/CD and DevOps practices
  • You've worked in a fast-paced, live environment and understand what it takes to support 24/7 systems
  • Curious and innovative - you're always looking for better ways to do things
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating across different specialisms
  • Passionate about keeping up with new technologies and bringing fresh ideas to the table
