Full Job Description
Langley School is seeking to appoint a Data Manager. The purpose of the Data Manager is to co-ordinate and administer the efficient running of the School's Management Information System (ISAMS) to support the Academic Teams. The Data Manager is responsible for preparing and developing the Senior School Timetable. Langley is a truly special place to work. - Maintaining the School's Management Information System (iSAMS) for both the Senior and Prep School, timetable creation, including the annual rollover process for setting up the new school year.
- Co-ordinating the integration and ongoing development of relevant data, processes and procedures into the School's existing information management infrastructure (including; iSAMS, My School Portal and MS Teams).
- Working with the Deputy Head (Academic) and other SMT members produce the Senior School Timetable within TimeTabler.
- Supporting Academic Teams by providing data and system configuration as required.
- Making recommendations to inform decision making and improve student performance, specifically focusing on producing data, reports and analysis for attainment and progress, behaviour and attendance, self-evaluation and staff performance management and professional development.
- Assisting with critical updates of the academic timetables throughout the year, in liaison with the Deputy Head (Academic).
- Making changes to the timetable within the TimeTabler software where needed.
- Creating, managing and supporting the data input and record keeping of staff and student data through the provision of custom reports and fields in the MIS
- Managing teaching and timetabling information and migration of existing records to new year groups, working with the Deputy Head (Academic).
- Managing students' subject choices and the distribution of block numbers, in consultation with the Deputy Head (Academic).
- Setting up the registration cycles at the beginning of each academic year.
- Producing and maintaining the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports for use from within iSAMS.
- Building and reporting on school data using PowerBI, making use of data from multiple services.
- Managing the production of statutory returns to Department of Education (DfE) and Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), as well as other bodies, as required.
- Importing and managing data within ALPS, providing data analysis and reporting to other departments.
- Producing reports using assessment data to assist Leadership Teams and teaching staff to track student progress (giving input where necessary; organising, reporting to interested parties; helping to ensure data is completed by Teachers and entered on time).
- Uploading reports to the Parent Portal.
- Producing reports for the Academic team to facilitate a full analysis of the results of report grades and public examinations
- Responding to ad hoc requests for data and/ or analysis.
- Working with the Exams team, managing reporting, CEM data and all associated responsibilities.
- Designing and setting up report cycle templates for data collection and analysis of data in addition to creating templates for each reporting session.
- Setting up complex formulae for analysing student performance and confidential staff curriculum targets.
- Working with the Exams Team to liaise with CEM for all school data requirements.
- Importing CEM Centre data assessment scores.
- Developing and maintaining target data from GL Assessments, MidYIS, Alis and Yellis, including the appropriate use of regression data.
- Submitting returns to the CEM regarding entries, examination results and baseline testing.
- Managing iSAMS, in conjunction with the Director of Digital Services
- Ensuring the integrity of the data stored within iSAMS
- Troubleshooting reported problems with the MIS and liaising with iSAMS as necessary.
- Extending and/or supplementing the use of iSAMS to serve the present and future needs of the School and to assist with staff training.
- Working closely with the Digital Services Team to ensure the smooth running of data systems.
- Liaising regularly with and the Director of Digital and the Academic Leadership team, as requested.
- Liaising with the Digital Services Team regarding all technical aspects of the School's MIS e.g. implementation of new systems and/ or modules, upgrades, maintaining users and accounts, troubleshooting issues.
- Continually developing the iSAMS environment to improve our data collect and analysis capabilities.
- Exhibiting excellent attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently
Proven administration and data management experience. Experience of working with a school management information system or have proven transferable skills. Excellent IT skills - including a high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and the manipulation of data, with particular expertise in using Excel, as well as proficiency in the use of SQL databases. An awareness of the importance of confidentiality and data protection. Ability to work as a team and independently. Ability to lead and support in areas specific to the role as appropriate
