Full Job Description

We're recruiting for Data Ethics and Literacy Hub Officers here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Data Ethics and Literacy Hub team. There are several roles available, and the final allocation across the Data Ethics and Data Literacy teams will be 6 x Data Ethics Officers and 4 x Data Literacy Officers. All roles will sit within the Data Ethics and Literacy Hub, where our mission is to build trust and confidence in how the MoJ uses data and AI by strengthening data and AI literacy skills and embedding ethical principles into data and AI work across the organisation. Data Ethics and Data Literacy Officers will play a key enabling role in supporting the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of the Data Ethics and Literacy Hub. Postholders will provide operational, coordination and engagement support across specific work areas, helping specialist leads and SMEs to focus on expert delivery, while strengthening organisational engagement, culture change and visibility across data ethics and data literacy. You will support our SEOs to deliver against specific objectives and workstreams. This is a varied, collaborative and outward facing role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple priorities, supporting delivery in a fast paced and collaborative environment, and contributing to culture change.,

  • Supporting the implementation of governance or assurance processes linked to ethical and responsible use of data and AI via the MoJ AI and Data Science Ethics Framework.
  • Working directly with project teams to provide practical data ethics support, such as coordinating assurance activity, ethics workshops, training sessions or learning resources.
  • Inputting to our Data Ethics community and Champions Network and collating feedback, learning and insights to inform continuous improvement.
  • Supporting community building initiatives across MoJ and government, including the Data Literacy Community of Practice and champions' network.
  • Working with the Data Literacy Managers to contribute to the development and maintenance of learning resources, toolkits, and frameworks to support responsible data use.
  • Supporting the management of commercial contracts for online learning platforms.
  • Supporting engagement, community and communications activity across the Hub, helping to promote data ethics and data literacy initiatives to a wide range of audiences.
  • Helping to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders across Justice Data, wider MoJ, arms-length bodies and cross government networks, contributing to a joined up and collaborative culture.
  • Acting as an advocate for data ethics and data literacy, building capability and confidence across teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve operational processes, workflows and ways of working, contributing to increased resilience, efficiency and delivery confidence across the Hub.
