Full Job Description
ROLE: Data EngineerHOURS: 40 hours per weekLOCATION: Hybrid working with occasional visits to one of our offices in Birmingham, Bristol, London or Manchester At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We're looking for a forward-thinking Data Engineer to join our Group Operations Data Transformation Team, supporting and enhancing our Microsoft Fabric platform while driving data quality, governance and transformation across the business. Role Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory and Python Manage the ingestion of raw data from multiple sources including CAFM, Finance Systems, Salesforce, IoT and HR systems into the Data Lakehouse Implement automated SQL and Python processes to identify, monitor and resolve data quality issues at source Maintain Data Governance standards including data dictionaries, lineage and schematics, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness Collaborate with Analysts, BI Developers, Information Systems and architecture teams to deliver scalable, future-proofed data solutions and optimise system performance
Required Qualifications: applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role. Expert-level SQL skills combined with strong Python experience, including data manipulation using Pandas and PySpark Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Stack technologies including Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Data Lake Proven experience delivering ETL/ELT projects, data modelling and implementing Data Governance controls Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a Data Engineering role Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain technical issues in a business-focused way What's in it for you? - Opportunity to work on innovative data transformation projects using modern cloud and AI-driven technologies Hybrid working environment with flexibility and career development opportunities Supportive team culture within an industry-leading organisation focused on continuous improvement and innovation
