Full Job Description
As a Data Analyst, you'll support the delivery of the Economic Statistics Plan, a major programme focused on strengthening the quality and trust in UK economic statistics. You'll work with large, complex datasets to produce high-quality analysis and insight. This is a hands-on role where you'll clean, link and interpret data, helping transform how statistics are produced and used across the organisation. What you'll be doing
- Collect, clean and manage large, complex datasets
- Analyse data to identify trends, patterns and insights
- Link and combine datasets to support deeper analysis
- Produce clear, user-friendly outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Use tools for data visualisation, modelling and analysis
- Support data quality checks and ensure accurate, reliable outputs
- Apply statistical techniques such as forecasting and time series analysis
- Present findings and make recommendations based on data
- Work collaboratively with teams across ONS to support shared objectives
Strong ability to analyse and interpret complex data - Experience using programming tools for data analysis
- Ability to identify and communicate trends, insights and anomalies
- Confident communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative working skills, Degree (2:2 or above) in economics, a numerate subject or social science, or
- Membership (or eligibility) for a government analytical profession, or
- Relevant work experience in data analysis or research
