Full Job Description
Introduction
You'll work alongside experienced consultants on real economic development studies- gaining experience with the data, tools and methods used across our impact assessments, evaluations and policy research. Your role will involve helping us take our AI use to the next level. You will develop approaches to analysing and reporting of MI and BI.
About the Employer
We are a UK and International economic development consultancy founded in 2011. We offer independent research and evidence-based recommendations to help organisations and clients understand and demonstrate the impact of their work. Our core services span six areas: economic impact assessments, cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies; policy and research studies drawing on international best practice; program and project evaluation; strategy development and implementation for growth and recovery; economic analysis and social value work; and funding and bid-writing support.
We have a tremendous variety of exciting work across the UK and further afield and basically we help people make economic development decisions and funding cases by providing research insights and producing reports that are accurate, accessible, and clear.
What You'll Do
- Collect, clean and organise data from surveys, official statistics (e.g. ONS, government datasets) and client sources
- Analyse and present data producing easily digestible headlines/trends/trajectories
- Support colleagues in building spreadsheets and models for economic impact assessments and cost-benefit analyses and updating and refining these, including developing inferential statistics to add statistical rigour to analysis where needed
- Help produce charts, tables and summary statistics for client reports and presentations
- Using and developing our AI tools (search/summarisation, Excel/Power BI copilots, coding assistants) to speed up desk research, data cleaning, and first-draft report writing
- Learning to write effective prompts and critically check AI-generated outputs for accuracy before they go into client work
- Passing on tips and knowledge to colleagues
- Support colleagues with desk research and literature reviews to support policy and evaluation studies
- Assist with survey design, distribution and basic analysis of responses
- Take part in quality checks to ensure data and calculations are accurate and consistent
- Attend client meetings and project catchups, taking notes and following up on actions
- Complete apprenticeship coursework, assessments and off-the-job training hours as required by the programme
Training Outcome
Reasonable future prospects for someone starting as a Data Analyst Apprentice at Kada Research could include:
- A permanent analyst role - on successful completion of the apprenticeship, moving into a substantive data/research analyst position within the team, subject to performance and business need
- Future progression to Senior Analyst/Consultant - taking on greater ownership of client projects, leading analysis on economic impact assessments and evaluations rather than just supporting them
- Specialism development - building deeper expertise in a particular area such as economic modelling, cost-benefit analysis, social value measurement, or a specific tool (Power BI, GIS), becoming the team's lead on that topic
- Client-facing opportunities - moving from desk research into presenting findings directly to clients and contributing to bid writing and business development
- Management - longer-term progression toward Associate/Project Director roles, managing project teams and client relationships
- Outside Kada this opportunity will open analyst roles at other consultancies, local authorities, or bodies like the ONS or Government Economic Service
