Full Job Description
At The Law Society, data plays a critical role in helping us better understand our members, improve our services, and make informed business decisions. As a Data Analyst, you will deliver high-quality insights and reporting that support strategic and operational decision-making across the organisation.
You will work with colleagues from a wide range of teams to transform complex data into meaningful recommendations, helping stakeholders understand performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure the impact of key initiatives. You will use a variety of analytical techniques to uncover trends, diagnose the root causes of business performance fluctuations, and provide evidence-based recommendations that drive action.
The role will involve developing automated dashboards and reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI and Databricks, enabling stakeholders to monitor key performance indicators with confidence. You will design and evaluate pilots and A/B tests, quantify the impact of service improvements and communications, and build predictive models to forecast future trends and member behaviour.
Working closely with the Data and Governance team, you will support data quality initiatives, helping to identify and resolve data issues while contributing to the maintenance of a trusted, single source of truth. You will also play an important role in increasing data literacy across the organisation by supporting colleagues to access, understand and responsibly use data and insights in their day-to-day decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of data products across The Law Society while helping to advance our analytical maturity and data-driven culture.
We are looking for an experienced analyst with a strong track record of turning data into actionable insights and business value. You will have extensive experience using Python for data analysis, particularly with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy, alongside strong SQL or Spark SQL programming skills.
You will bring proven experience of creating engaging visualisations, dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar tools such as Tableau or Qlik, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will possess excellent numeracy skills and a strong understanding of statistical analysis and modelling, combined with advanced data wrangling, data cleaning and quality assurance experience. Your analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities will enable you to identify trends, investigate issues and provide practical recommendations that support organisational objectives.
You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work to agreed deadlines. A collaborative approach is essential, as you will work closely with colleagues across teams and functions to understand their needs and support the successful adoption of data products and insights.
Experience of working with tools such as DevOps, Jira and GitHub would be advantageous, as would an understanding of data governance, data security and regulatory compliance. Most importantly, you will be proactive, curious and committed to continuous improvement, with a passion for helping others make better use of data.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with colleagues in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and a culture of trust, clarity, excellence and respect.
We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.
Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.
Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 24 August.
The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect and promote solicitors.
