Full Job Description

This role of Darzi Fellowship will be the Clinical Lead for Leadership Fellows and will work with and support the London Postgraduate Deans in leading the delivery of leadership fellows support functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate within the London Region.

The Darzi Fellow - Clinical Lead for Leadership Fellows will contribute to the setting of strategic direction and development of clinical leadership fellows across NHSE in London. They will understand, promote and deliver the NHSE mandate and will espouse and enact the NHS values in their daily activity thus promoting the NHS constitution.

Main duties of the job

To work with the Postgraduate Deans and other members of the London medical leadership team:

To provide effective clinical leadership for agreed projects.

To liaise and engage with the organisation and other sector colleagues as appropriate.

Provide timely and effective clinical advice and leadership working with managers and staff.

Providing written reports on progress, including risks and issues.

To demonstrate strong principles of equality, inclusivity and diversity into all areas of work, with a focus on reducing health inequalities.

To be an advocate and a positive role model on behalf of NHSE, by promoting leadership that inspires, motivates and empowers all staff, and demonstrates the values of the NHS.

To provide a credible, onsite leadership presence in accordance with NHS England Hybrid Working Policy.

To work with system partners to:

Establish strong working relationships to understand the strategic direction of the needs of the wider workforce, training and education team.

NHS England has a wide range of statutory functions, responsibilities and regulatory powers. These are focused on supporting the wider NHS to deliver high quality care, as well as doing those things that are best done once for the whole NHS.

Our staff bring expertise across clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial specialisms -- enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.

In March 2025, the Government announced that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.

If you currently work within the NHS and if successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
