Full Job Description
It is important to note that Choices and Rights are not the employer, we act on the employer's behalf and we cannot be held responsible for any actions arising from your employment. We are not an agency.
One or two Personal Assistants to work with two active boys, school holidays only, 20hours per week, HU6 area.
Further information: One or two Personal Assistants are required to support an 11yr old and a 13yr old boy to access social and leisure activities within the community.
The 11yr old is nonverbal and is very much fun to be around, he loves bugs and the outdoors, he likes parks and loves airplanes. He can go to the toilet on his own when at home, but if it's outside the family home mum is not sure if he would be confident about going by himself.
It would be desirable, but not essential, to have someone that knows signing using Makaton.
The 13yr old loves wooded areas, but he would need to be wearing a wrist strap outside as he easily becomes distracted and will wander off. He will need to be supervised at all times, and if he wants to go off, will set off at speed. He is quite complex, he talks with no sense, but can ask for things like a drink and when he needs to go to the toilet. He can go to the toilet independently, but would need to be supervised anywhere where there are taps as he loves water and will turn taps on.
The successful applicant will be active, positive, confident and extremely supportive. You will promote the two boys independent living and life skills. Your main focus will be to support them to engage with social activities.
