Full Job Description

The Co-ordinator for Progression Programmes is responsible for the leadership, coordination and development of programmes designed to support 16 to 19-year-old learners who experience barriers to education. The role ensures that learners receive high-quality teaching, holistic support and clear progression pathways into higher level programmes, employment or further training. The postholder will manage and support a team of lecturers, design inclusive and responsive provision, and ensure that educational, personal and social barriers to learning are identified and addressed. The role plays a key part in widening participation, raising aspirations and improving learner outcomes across progression programmes at Weston College. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare. Day to day duties of the role include:

  • Provide operational leadership for progression programmes supporting learners with complex or multiple barriers to education.
  • Design and coordinate curriculum provision that develops the whole learner, including academic, personal, social and employability skills.
  • Ensure programmes are structured to enable progression into higher level study, apprenticeships or employment.
  • Maintain oversight of learner pathways, transition points and progression

    Teaching Qualification at Level 5 or above.
  • Experience of working with 16 to 19 learners who face barriers to education within an FE or related setting.
  • Experience of leading, managing or coordinating educational provision or programmes.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for children and young people in an education setting.
