Cover Supervisor - Full-Time and Part-Time Supply Cover
Location: Beckfoot School, Beckfoot Oakbank School, Beckfoot Thornton, Beckfoot Upper Heaton
Contract: Part-time and full-time opportunities available
We are seeking reliable and proactive Cover Supervisors to join our secondary schools within the Beckfoot Trust. Beckfoot School, Beckfoot Oakbank School, Beckfoot Thornton, and Beckfoot Upper Heaton are vibrant and inclusive schools committed to creating an environment where every pupil can thrive.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of teachers, ensuring that learning continues smoothly and that pupils remain engaged and safe. You will provide structured support, follow lesson plans, and maintain a positive classroom environment, helping pupils to stay on task and achieve their potential.
A key aspect of this role is maintaining order, supporting behaviour management, and ensuring that lessons run effectively in line with school policies.
You will also assist in monitoring pupil progress, supporting teachers with feedback, and contributing to the overall learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, following lesson plans provided
- Ensure pupils remain focused, on task, and engaged in learning activities
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and promote a positive classroom environment
- Support pupils with learning tasks as directed, including SEND pupils where appropriate
- Report any behavioural or safeguarding concerns promptly to senior staff
- Assist teachers by providing feedback on lesson outcomes and pupil engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support staff to maintain continuity of learning
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and contribute to the welfare of all pupils
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people in a school or educational setting
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain order and engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, flexibility, and a proactive approach
- Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt support to pupil needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
