To act as a senior costing officer within the OUH Research & Development Costing Team to ensure that research activities which involve the use of NHS Trust resources are considered, costed, and adequate funding secured in line with local and national costing policies. This will involve making sure all research activities are costed within the rules of the appropriate funding organisation, or follow the national costing process. In addition, the costing activity must be completed to time and target to meet the national 150-day metrics for study setup for research. The senior costing officer will also cost National Contract Value Review research projects for OUH as a lead site. Research is one of the key activities in OUH's World-Class Impact strategic theme, alongside education and innovation. The Research & Development Department supports researchers in planning, set-up and conducting research across the Trust at all levels. The role of the teams is to support and facilitate high quality research, and to ensure that the interests of participants, researchers and the Trust are protected, through adherence to the local and national regulatory frameworks. The R&D Finance team provides pre and post award financial support to researchers undertaking or applying to undertake research activity within the OUH.Main duties of the job 1. To review and cost research activities in areas of responsibility, and to take the lead on complex research proposals. 2. To submit, negotiate and agree funding proposals with commercial and non-commercial funders within key performance timelines and in particular meets the national 150-day metrics for study set up. 3. To act as a costing officer for commercial costing activities under the National Contract Value Review (NCVR) process for OUH as lead site or 2nd review site.

• Relevant experience in costing medical research projects or resources for the NHS or a HEI
• Experience and understanding of clinical research activities
• Experience of reading or analysing medical research protocols
Desirable criteria
• Experience of the National Contract Value Review procedure / costing non-commercial research
