We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Fraud Officer to join our friendly Audit and Risk Team at Blackpool Council.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and the ability to write reports to a high standard. An experienced and qualified counter fraud/investigative background is required with the ability to work on your own and as part of a team to undertake a wide range of investigations. These can range from fraud committed against the council such as council tax, procurement and blue badge fraud alongside internal investigations when the need arises and participating in data matching exercises, meaning the successful candidate will conduct criminal investigations and utilise the law to safeguard the public purse.
The successful candidate will also have a role in the delivery of the proactive work programme delivered by the team, with the aim to prevent and detect fraud whilst embedding an anti-fraud culture across all directorates within the Council and also allowing residents easy ways to participate in the fight against fraud.
This is a challenging, rewarding and interesting position and we are looking to appoint a candidate who can effectively demonstrate the commitment, professionalism and objectivity required for this role.
If you have the talents we are looking for, we’ll give you a warm welcome and access to a range of benefits including flexible working hours, generous annual leave, pension and opportunities for hybrid working (minimum requirement to be office based 3 days a week). Our office is in a central location close to public transport links so easy to get to.
