The successful candidate will work across a variety of technical areas including Treasury Management, Capital Accounting, balance sheet management and statutory reporting, whilst supporting the administration and reconciliation of the Council's third-party lending arrangements. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in specialist areas of local government finance whilst working closely with senior finance professionals and a range of internal and external stakeholders. What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting with year-end financial reporting and statutory accounting processes.
  • Providing administrative support for governance and decision-making processes, including minute taking and record management.
  • Uploading and processing journals and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues, subsidiaries, partners and external stakeholders.
  • We're looking for someone who is analytical, organised, and committed to delivering excellent service. You'll be able to interpret financial information, communicate effectively with a range of audiences, and use evidence to support decision-making.

  • A relevant finance qualification (AAT or equivalent) or demonstrable experience within a finance-related role.
  • Experience of financial reconciliations, accounting processes and financial record management.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with complex financial data and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy, governance and customer service
