Cook / Supervisor

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, organised and committed Senior Catering Assistant with good communication skills to join our friendly, experienced team. You would work under the overall direction of the Catering Manager but would also need to be able to supervise a small team in the absence of the Catering Manager. Our ideal candidate is someone who is creative and able to use initiative. Your skills in working with colleagues and young people are as important as previous catering experience. Working hours are negotiable around 7:30am - 14:20pm in term time and there is scope to work additional hours at school events.

• You must be able to assist in the planning and production of school meals.
• Be able to assist with menu options and advise on healthy eating and nutrition.
• Assist with the ordering of food and other commodities required.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, with particular regard to Health & Safety, Hygiene Regulations and control of food allergens.
• Support the Senior Catering Manager in the operation of stock control.
• Wash and clear utensils and kitchen equipment, including machinery and clean kitchen premises as required.
• Support and assist in the preparation required for any special functions organised by the school. IT and administrative skills would also be appreciated.
• Previous experience of working in a busy school kitchen is desirable.
