Full Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Building Surveyor / Contract Works Officer to join our Asset Management and Planned Maintenance teams. This is a key role in delivering Birmingham City Council's Capital Investment Programme - improving and investing in more than 57,000 council homes across the city. As part of our Planned Maintenance Team, you'll work alongside skilled and supportive colleagues who are committed to raising housing standards and ensuring safe, high-quality homes for our residents. Your expertise will help drive forward major investment programmes and influence how we care for one of the largest housing portfolios in the country. What you'll do
- Support the delivery of planned maintenance across Birmingham's housing stock.
- Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety, Building Regulations, Building Control, and CDM requirements.
- Inspect kitchen and bathroom installations, assess workmanship, and diagnose building defects across low- and high-rise properties.
- Instruct and oversee remedial works with our contracted partners.
- Prepare clear reports and correspondence using Microsoft Office and related systems.
Strong experience in residential property maintenance. - Knowledge of building defects, planned maintenance, and quality inspections.
- A relevant qualification (HNC/BTEC in Building) or equivalent experience.
- Gas or electrical knowledge is desirable.
