Contract Manager

You'll be embedded within project delivery - protecting margin, challenging where needed, identifying commercial risk early and making sure the business is commercially protected throughout the project lifecycle. What will you be doing?Your responsibilities will include:Managing project budgets, cost plans, cash flow forecasts and commercial reportingMonitoring costs, commitments, revenue, margin and forecast outturnIdentifying cost overruns, margin erosion and commercial risks at an early stagePreparing and submitting applications for payment, milestone invoices and valuationsMeasuring and valuing completed works on remeasurable contractsManaging variations, change control and contractual noticesPreparing and negotiating variation quotationsReviewing contracts, purchase orders and amendments and identifying commercial risks and opportunitiesManaging subcontract commercial arrangements, applications, variations and final accountsSupporting and leading claims, disputes and more complex

commercial mattersWorking closely with Finance around revenue recognition and cash collectionProviding commercial guidance to Project Managers, engineers and site teamsLeading the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accountsHelping strengthen commercial controls and processes across the wider business The position will also provide functional guidance and mentoring to a Contract Officer within the Site Operations team. Who are we looking for?You might currently be working as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Project Commercial Manager or Contracts Manager. What matters is that you have a strong grounding in the commercial management of projects and are comfortable working in a practical, technical environment. Ideally, you'll bring experience across areas such as:Engineering, construction, energy, power, industrial or other technical/project-led environmentsFixed-price, milestone-based and/or remeasurable contractsCost control, forecasting
and project commercial reportingApplications for payment and valuationsVariations, change control and claimsContract administration and contractual noticesSubcontract commercial managementFinal account preparation and negotiationCommercial risk managementWorking directly with Project Managers, engineers and operational/site teamsAdvanced Excel and project control, financial or ERP systems Knowledge of NEC, JCT, FIDIC or other standard forms of contract would be advantageous, as would a Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification within Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
