West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint asubstantive, full-time Consultant in Respiratory Medicinewith asubspecialty interest in Lung Cancer and Pleural Disease, and procedural expertise in Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)and acommitment to thoracic oncology MDT working and pleural intervention, alongside general respiratory medicine.

You will join afriendly, well-established department of 14 respiratory consultants, delivering high-quality inpatient, outpatient, and virtual hospital care acrossWatford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a seniorrole in the Trust's Lung Cancer and Pleural Disease service, work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, and contribute to innovative models of care including our award-winning Virtual Hospital.

There is a commitment to the NIV and Respiratory on-call rotas, and a General Internal Medicine (GIM) on-call of 1 weekday in 14,in keeping with the department's wider acute medicine responsibilities.

The post holder will:

· Provide high-quality inpatient respiratory care, including ARCU cover, on a1 in 10rota

· Participate in bronchoscopy lists (approximately 1 in 3)and pleural procedure lists

· Contribute to the GIM on-call rota (1 weekday in 14) and the acute NIV on-call rota (1 in 12 weekdays; 1 in 10 weekends)

· Deliver specialist outpatient clinics including:

o Lung cancer (including breaking bad news)

o Pleural disease

o EBUS procedure lists

o General / urgent respiratory ("hot") clinics

· Participate in the Respiratory Virtual Hospital (1 in 10 weeks)

· Participate inLung Cancer MDT (Wednesday mornings),and pleural MDT

A new hospital has been planned for Watford. A new four roomed Endoscopy Unit at St Albans has been planned with a completion date of 2026.
