Consultant Radiologist MSK

The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into the team of existing Consultants to provide a complete diagnostic service including the reporting of MSK, CT, MRI, ultrasound and plain films.

The Radiology Directorate is part of the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services Division. The directorate provides a diagnostic imaging service to inpatients and outpatient services across two sites: Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital. In addition, the department provides a GP direct access service for plain film, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. The Trust is also the South of Mersey Vascular centre (SMart Centre) providing a networked vascular service for Chester, Warrington and Wirral patients.

The Countess of Chester Hospital has consistently invested within the Radiology department and has ensured that the environment and the equipment meet the needs of a modern, changing diagnostic service. Our latest developments being, our replacement Interventional Radiology suite with built in floor space for future expansion and our new state of the art cardiac CT scanner.

The Countess of Chester site has 3 CT scanners (1 cardiac scanner) and 2 1.5T MRI scanners. The department has a suite of ultrasound scanners. The general department is fully digital, including wireless portable equipment. The department performs approximately 15,500 MRI scans, 30,000 CT scans, 2,000 Interventional procedures and 31,000 ultrasound scans per year., The Trust's services are provided from three locations: o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds. o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility. o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population. The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System.
