Consultant Radiologist

Applicants are invited to apply for a Consultant Radiologist post with a specialist interest in paediatric Imaging. The post is for 10PAs. The post has arisen to reconfiguration of the existing team of 5 paediatric radiologists. The post will be based at St Marys Hospital which is a centre for paediatric infectious disease, paediatric haematology and oncology (Level 2). There is a large bone marrow transplant unit, a busy general paediatric department and an established PICU. There are two neonatal units across the two sites (St Mary's hospital & Queen Charlottes Hospital) with two dedicated NICUs. St Mary's Hospital is the paediatric trauma centre for north west London. There is a paediatric surgery service in combination with Chelsea NHS trust. The imaging department supports busy A&E departments, UCC centres and general practitioners. The successful candidate will have completed formal training in radiology and will have experience in paediatric radiology. An interest in training and research is strongly encouraged in accordance with the strategic aims of the Academic Health Sciences Centre.Main duties of the job The successful candidate's clinical work will involve reporting paediatric plain radiographs and cross-sectional imaging, performing paediatric ultrasound and fluoroscopy and attending paediatric MDT meetings. The candidate will be fully supported by the existing paediatric radiology team. Close collaboration with the paediatric radiology team and clinicians in the management of patients will be paramount. The appointee will contribute to the general work in the department, including duty "hot desk" reporting and general CT reporting. A strong interest in teaching and training will be welcomed to support the radiology training scheme, sonographers and reporting radiographers. There will be ample opportunities for audit and research projects in line with the candidate's interests. Programmed activities (PAs) For a whole-time contract: A total of 10 PAs Clinical Activities: 8 PAs per week (including clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work) Supporting Professional Activities: 2 PAs per week (including audit, clinical governance, CPD, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD) Monday: Reporting (am) Neonatal MDT and Paediatric Ultrasound (pm) Tuesday: Paediatric MDT/ fluoroscopy (am) and SPA (pm) Wednesday: Reporting (am) and Paediatric Ultrasound (pm) Thursday: SPA (am) and Paediatric ultrasound (pm) Friday: General/CT reporting and Hot reporting 1-3/ Reporting (pm) Regular meetings: There are various MDT and departmental/ divisional meetings which the post-holder will attend as required.,

• Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
  
  Formal subspecialty training in paediatric imaging including fluoroscopy, CT and MRI.
• General radiology skills in plain radiography, ultrasound, CT and MRI.
• IT Skills and computer literacy, Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority

• Management of staff
• Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues, Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
