Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Learning Disability Service, based in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key leadership role within a well-established multidisciplinary service supporting adults with learning disabilities across Oxfordshire. You will provide senior clinical leadership, delivering high-quality, person-centred care while working collaboratively with a skilled team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists and partner agencies. The role offers a varied caseload, involving complex assessments, treatment planning and clinical supervision, alongside opportunities to contribute to service development, teaching and quality improvement.   • Provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the Learning Disability Team (LDT). Medical responsibility for patients usually remains with the GP, except where a medical member of the LDT takes a patient on for continuing treatment. The post holder will have responsibility for those patients seen by themselves, together with those patients seen by medical staff directly supervised by the post holder.
  • Work alongside the Team Manager and the other Consultant Psychiatrists in the Community LDTs to ensure the effective functioning and development of the service.
  • Contribute to the collection of data as required by the Trust and other relevant agencies. This includes the timely recording of clinical activity data, and participation in clinical audit with appropriate administrative support.
  • Attend most regular directorate managerial meeting as necessary, particularly Joint Consultant Committee, Medical Staff Committee and Directorate/Managerial liaison meeting.
  • Participate in and attend the local training programme for junior doctors, aCPD peer group and a clinical supervision group with fellow consultants.
  • Maintain your own programme of training and CPD accreditation with the support of their Lead consultant/Associate Medical Director/Clinical Director.
