Consultant Psychiatrist

General Expectations of a Consultant Psychiatrist employed with North London NHS Foundation Trust include o To work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork. o To be Section 12(2) approved and have approved clinician status and participate in the Trust-wide Section 12 daytime rota. o To provide second opinions for consultant colleagues if requested. o To keep up with administration and note-keeping on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ and risk assessments. o To assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints if requested. o To keep up to date with mandatory training. o To attend and participate in Consultants' and Management meetings to keep informed of service issues and developments. o Other management/clinical supporting activity (to be negotiated as required by the Trust.) We will be more effective as an organisation by pioneering research, quality improvement and technology., The Specialist Community Forensic LD Team or CLDP currently covers the five London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, and aims to provide both assertive pre-discharge (transition management) and high levels of multi-disciplinary community forensic after-care for restricted or unrestricted learning-disabled patients discharged from secure care. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to undertake assessments of LD patients referred to the North London Forensic Service for risk assessment or advice, and will attend professionals multiciliary meetings with generic community teams that refer services users to them. The referrals come from mainly from generic community teams. The post holder will also be expected to join the NLFS consultant group in assessing new external referrals to the service, averaging 9 per year. This includes face-to-face assessments and also joining the Forensic Risk Advice Panel. The post holder will be expected to support the Trusts Clinical Governance Framework for monitoring and improving standards of care through taking part in activities for improving quality and safety, assisting with NHS PSIRF process, identifying and managing risks within the service, as well as maintaining his or her own continuing professional development. • MBBS or equivalent qualification, Qualifications or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
• Open Dialogue Training
• Additional clinical qualification, Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date
• Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
• Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
• Section 12 Approved or able to achieve within three months of appointment

• In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Transport Essential
