Full Job Description
We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team for Great Yarmouth and Waveney. We are looking for someone who will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the management of people with complex needs, through the provision of clinical leadership and advice and support. The people in our care, families and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do., The post is for a Consultant Psychiatrist. CRHT provides assessment and treatment to adults aged between 18-75 years suffering from severe mental disorders. The service offers comprehensive assessment (including risk assessment) and a thorough review of treatments, starting new treatments or modifying existing treatments, and brief interventions. Working closely with patients, families, significant others, and services involved in the provision of care. The approach is collaborative and structured towards assisting patients in recovering from illnesses. The inpatient units work very closely with the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, Community Mental Health Teams, Housing, Social Services, and Police to ensure adequate throughput of patients.
- Entry on the GMC register with Licence to practise
- Approved clinician status
- Section 12(2) Approval under the Mental Health Act
- Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- MRCPsych
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice, Effective team working
- Leadership qualities
- Flexibility
- Driving Licence/able to travel independently
- Research Clinical Governance Essential
- A clear understanding of Clinical Governance
- Demonstrate a commitment to open review of practice Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning Essential
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
- Participated in continuous professional development
- Participated in research or service evaluation
- Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes Desirable
- Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients
- Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
- Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken
- Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential
- 3 years or equivalent medical experience
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment + management of complex mental illess
- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Making decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA Desirable
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service Transport Essential
- Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative Person Specification Qualifications Essential

All of our substantive Consultant vacancies attract a 'New Starter' package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a recruitment bonus - All new starters may be eligible to receive up to £12,000 relocation package
- CPD is being paid at the higher level of £2000 per annum with the facility accumulating annual funding for up to three years to accommodate accessing higher cost development opportunities
