Consultant Paediatrician With Expertise In Cardiology (PEC)

This appointment is for a Consultant Paediatrician With Expertise In Cardiology, the post holder will take work with the clinical lead, focusing on the development of the Paediatric Cardiology service across the department of Paediatrics at Lincoln County and Pilgrim Hospitals which are part of the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Paediatric Department within United Lincolnshire Hospitals is currently undergoing an exciting period of service redesign and has seen the greatest expansion in consultant numbers to facilitate this for many years. The Department is establishing Children and Young People assessment units (CYPAU) and will be aiming to meet the RCPCH 'Facing the Future' Standards., The successful candidate would join a 11 consultant rota and would be expected to provide both paediatric and neonatal cover on a rolling consultant of the week rota. Cover of the acute inpatient ward/paediatric day assessment unit will be provided on a 1:11 rota. Cover of the neonatal unit will also provided on a 1:11 Hot week basis.

The successful applicant will conduct general paediatric clinics and have a number of dedicated paediatric cardiology duties and undertake a number of cardiology clinics at the primary sites.

The post holder will support the care of inpatients who have a paediatric cardiology diagnosis in NICU and general paediatric wards, plus Echocardiography where appropriate. They will be the primary contact for all referrals from inpatients and provide advice and support in managing these patients in liaison with the regional paediatric cardiology service. The post holder will contribute to the provision of high quality medical care for congenital cardiac patients requiring both acute and routine care.The post holder will also attend the joint cardiac meetings at the Regional Cardiac centre.
