Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

We wish to appoint a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, with an interest in General Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery and Trauma, with a subspecialty interest in Skin Cancer management. You will undertake their clinical commitments across Bay at the three sites. You will take part in the consultant on call rota. It is envisaged that the post holder will develop a subspecialty interest to complement those of the existing consultantsMain duties of the job You would participate in a general consultant on call rota, with a commitment to undertake a weekend morning trauma list during your on-call weekend. This on call rota is a 1:4 when this vacancy is filled. • MBChB or equivalent BDS or equivalen
• Full registration with GMC +/- GDC
• CCST or equivalent/ Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery FRCS (OMFS)
• Entry on Specialist register (or expected within 6/12
• Research experience
• Recognised as medical educator, Surgical prize
• Publications
• Formal teaching qualification, Trained Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Demonstrated teaching experience, Leadership qualification
• Experience in positions of responsibility eg editorial commitment, membership
• Proven team working
• Computer literate, Record of personal development
• Resident within 10 miles/30 minutes of Royal Lancaster Infirmary
• The post holder must be able to travel to all units within the network and to attend out of hours to see emergency patients
Physical,
• Good general health and able to carry out the duties of the post.

  We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
