Full Job Description
Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. All high-risk obstetrics services are provided at Russells Hall Hospital, where there is a large level 2 NNU, providing HDU and ICCU care to mothers and babies. There is also a co-located midwifery-led birthing unit (MLU). The Obstetric Service provides Maternal Medicine and Antenatal Services with a full range of outpatient clinics, obstetric anaesthetist and diagnostic and screening services. There are currently 16 consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Resident medical staff includes a group of senior middle grade Trust doctors in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The Gynaecology service provides a comprehensive emergency and elective service including Early pregnancy unit, Ambulatory Gynaecology with Outpatient "See and treat" clinics for hysteroscopy as well as PMB and Colposcopy services. We are a centre accredited for advanced endometriosis surgery and we have a local Oncology team supplemented with advanced nurse specialists. We have a specialised Urogynaecology service with Urodynamic clinics operating on a regular basis. Our Benign Gynaecology, Endometriosis and Urogynaecology clinics are based in Corbett Hospital. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and contribute to providing a wide range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology procedures.,
- Provide a high quality service for women presenting with gynaecological issues both within the outpatients and inpatients setting.
- To be actively involved in the management and decision making for women whose pregnancies and labours have become complicated.
- To be available during the working week so that medical and midwifery staff can communicate and consult freely.
- To ensure that concise, agreed management plans are clearly displayed in the notes of all patients.
- To assist the multi-disciplinary team in the production of referenced, evidence based guidelines.
- To provide practical teaching sessions (including obstetric "drills") to junior medical staff and assist in the postgraduate teaching for midwives.
- To provide conditions for improved training opportunities in line with national and local recommendations arising out of GMC and related requirements
- On call requirement for Maternity of 1:16 basis with prospective cover
- On call requrement for Gynacology of 1:12 week basis.
