Full Job Description
Clinical Care:
o Deliver high-quality patient care in gynaecological oncology.o Maintain GMC specialist registration and required competencies.o Ensure timely attendance at clinical activities.o Involve patients in care decisions and respond to their views.
Research, Teaching & Training:
o Collaborate on research, adhering to governance requirements.o Provide high-quality teaching to medical students and healthcare professionals.o Act as an educational supervisor and appraiser.
Performance & Governance:
o Drive clinical efficiency, quality outcomes, financial, and operational performance.o Review clinical outcomes using benchmarking data and advise on variances.o Participate in audits, incident reporting, and NICE compliance.o Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices.o Promote infection control and patient safety.
West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint two substantive Consultants in Gynaecological Oncology. These positions would be based at all our hospital sites.
The successful applicants will join the current Gynaecological Oncology team led by Mr Malcolm Padwick. New post holders will have mentorship support provided within the division, to ensure they are supported in assimilating to their new role.
The Gynaecological Oncology service is part of the Women's and Children's Division, which also includes Paediatrics and Maternity. The positions will provide specialist Gynaecological Oncology surgical care and Rapid Access Diagnostic support at Watford General Hospital, St Albans City Hospital, with outreach clinics to our units in Luton and Stevenage.
Watford General Hospital is a tertiary Gynaecological Cancer Centre supported by three Gynaecological Oncology consultants. Our workload is close to 400 new cancer cases treated every year. Within the department there is extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. The appointees will be expected to further support the development of robotics within the department and to help with the increased workload of advanced ovarian cancer cases., With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.We are building on the success of our award-winning virtual hospital and re-imaging models of care, working ever more closely with partners and making the most of advances in digital healthcare.
