Consultant Nephrologist with an Interest in Oncology / Nephrology

The roleis a new position tohelp meet our rising demand forGeneral Nephrology andthe emerging need for Onco-nephrologycareacross L&SC.This is asubstantivefull-time Consultant Nephrologistpost.

They will alsoconducttheir DCCat RPH and in our regionalrenal centres, however throughadvanceagreement with the Clinical Director, there may beopportunities to negotiate a change in job plan to includeon-calls,proceduresand/or clinic activities at Royal Preston Hospital.

The appointee will join 19(17WTE) Renal ConsultantsandanAssociate Specialistto improveupon thehigh qualitycare offered to patients acrossLancashire and South Cumbria. In addition to the specific roles outlined,the successful candidates would be expected to meet all standard duties of a substantive Consultant withparticular referenceto contributing to the work of the renal department and commitment to undertaking continuing professional development. We expectall ofour team to contribute to the education of departmental staff and students in training. We encourage the development of individual and collaborative research activity., General Nephrologyand anew onco-nephrology(face-to-face and virtual)will be based at RPH and peripheral renal centres. In-patient bedside reviews may berequiredforperipheral centreinpatientsandreviewing referralson Patient Pass. There is timeallocatedin the job plan to reflect this commitment.

The successful candidate willjoin a highlymotivatedteam and will develop an Onco-Nephrology service to meet the rising demands ofacute kidney injuryduring the course ofcancer treatment.This clinic willprovide a clear pathway for referralfor the region and reduce treatment interruptions forpatients. The clinics will belocatedat Royal Preston Hospitalandanotherregional centrepending demand modelling.

The successful candidate willalso provide General Nephrology clinicslikely to the north ofthe service.

You would join an excellent,friendlyand compassionate large Renal service that covers 1.6 million people, looking after over 1400 dialysis and transplant patients across a large geographical area including 4 trusts and 6 satellite renal centres in addition to our main hub unit at Royal Preston Hospital. Our new renal satellite centres offer renal outpatient clinic facilities, on-site phlebotomy in addition to regular dialysis stations and self-care areas.
