Consultant in Upper GI Surgery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Upper GI Surgeon to join our surgical team in Cornwall. We are seeking a surgeon with a strong interest and experience in Upper GI surgery, ideally with a specialist interest in bariatric surgery and experience in robotic-assisted surgery. The successful candidate will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to the continued development of high-quality, patient-centred surgical services across Cornwall., The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

• Deliver a high-quality elective and emergency Upper GI surgical service.
• Develop and expand their specialist interest in bariatric surgery.
• Undertake and develop robotic-assisted surgical procedures as part of our evolving minimally invasive surgery programme.
• Work closely with gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, anaesthetics, dietetics and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and training.
• Support the continued development of specialist Upper GI and bariatric pathways across Cornwall.
  
  We are looking for a Consultant who is:
• Fully trained in Upper GI surgery and eligible for appointment at Consultant level.
• Experienced in complex Upper GI surgery.
• Ideally experienced in, or with a strong interest in, bariatric surgery.
• Experienced in robotic surgery, or with demonstrable commitment to developing their robotic skills.
• A strong team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Committed to clinical excellence, teaching, research and continuous service improvement.
