This is an exciting opportunity to be part of truly integrated public health by joining theStaffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Consultant in Public Health Alliance. In the context of emerging integrated care systems, this is a unique opportunity to shape a new approach, with public health at the forefront of system leadership. Along with your fellow Consultants in Public Health, you will build a collaborative approach, maximising public health capacity and expertise across the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint.

The Alliance is an integrated team of Consultants in Public Health, providing public health capacity and expertise across the ICS.

The Alliance will be guided by a steering group made up of the following:

Ø Chief Medical Officer: Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB)

Ø Director of Public Health: Staffordshire County Council

Ø Deputy Director Strategy & Transformation: University Hospital North Midlands

Salary for the post(s):NHS Medical Consultant (dependent on experience and qualifications)orNHS Agenda for Change Scale 8d/9 (dependent on experience).

You will play a key role providing strategic leadership across organisational boundaries, working with partners and communities to improve public health outcomes.

The Alliance will be underpinned by a formal accountability structure, governed through a workforce sharing agreement between partners (available ahead of interview upon request). These two posts will be employed by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB and hosted by Staffordshire County Council. See attached Service Agreement for further detail. One post will have a portfolio which includes children and young people's public health, and the other post will have a portfolio which includes health protection and the wider determinants of health,as well as other responsibilities, to be determined following successful appointment.

The Shropshire Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area., New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if working from home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations.

Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.

This role forms part of an integrated Alliance of Consultants in Public Health (CPH), providing public health capacity and expertise across the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System (ICS). Members of the Alliance include: Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) ('the employer'), and Staffordshire County Council (SCC) and the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM) (the 'hosts').

The Alliance will maximise public health capacity, with a formal accountability structure, governed through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between partners.

The post will be employed by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB and hosted by the respective partner organisation (as defined in the Service Agreement). See Service/ Workforce Sharing Agreement for further detail.

As a Consultant in Public Health in Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Public Health Consultant Alliance (the 'Alliance') you will have the chance to work across the local system to improve the lives our local population.

The post holder will provide public health leadership, advice, and action to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the local population through work with communities and partners.

Due to the Alliance approach, a high level of tact, diplomacy and public health leadership skill is required, including the ability work across different organisations, with local politicians and senior management. The successful candidate(s) will need to challenge and advocate for effective working and on specific issues to achieve public health outcomes and objectives.

All posts will work across the ICS where projects/arrangements necessitate but will have line management and supervision arrangements via the host organisation.
