Full Job Description

Applications are welcomed from candidates with appropriate training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, whether from a Paediatrics or Emergency Medicine background. These are substantive Consultant posts based within the Paediatric Emergency Department at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Job share arrangements will be considered.,

  • Provide senior clinical leadership in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of children presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Supervise, support, and develop junior and middle-grade medical staff, including providing expert advice during on-call periods.
  • Lead trauma team responses and participate in the consultant on-call rota to ensure timely emergency care delivery.
  • Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the Emergency Department, including safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • Contribute to service improvement through multidisciplinary collaboration, audit, research, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities

    o Possess, or be within six months of receiving, a CCT in Emergency Medicine or Paediatrics with sub specialty accreditation in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at the time of appointment.o Demonstrate equivalent clinical experience if not following the traditional CCT route.o Show strong commitment to high quality paediatric emergency care and collaborative team working.
